SE Dons have moved into VCD Athletic’s former ground at Oakwood.

Player Availability

Aaron Archibald is looking for a club at Step 5 or higher. Hythe Town to VCD Athletic. He made 13 appearances, eleven starts for Hythe Town in 2025/26 before moving to VCD Athletic in November for whom he made six appearances, He later returned to Sheppey United for whom he had played in 2024/25 whilst on loan from Leyton Orient.

Ryan Blake is set to start his sixth season with Bearsted. In 2025/26 he made 35 appearances, 34 starts, and scored one goal.

Alfie Bloomfield Beckenham Town to Erith & Belvedere. Started last season with Herne Bay, making around 35 appearances and scored six goals, before moving to Beckenham Town in January and clocking up another 17 appearances.

Kelvin Boampong Rusthall to Frenford. Joined Rusthall in February and made four appearances with three starts. Earlier in the season he had made a handful of appearances for Dunstable Town and Frenford.

Matt Day Larkfield & New Hythe to Bearsted. He made around 70 appearances for Larkfield & New Hythe over the last two seasons and in 2025/26 he made 37 appearances, 25 starts, and scored 16 goals, including three braces.

Ross Ibbertson Larkfield & New Hythe to Bearsted. He becomes the third player this summer to move from The Larks to The Bears. He has spent the last two seasons at Larkfield & New Hythe and in 2025/26 made 25 appearances of which 18 were starts.

Sonny Jackson returns to Bearsted for a second season. He joined the club last summer from Snodland Town and although he did rejoin Snodland for a short spell early last season, he returned to The Bears and made 31 appearances, 27 starts, and scored one goal.

Earlier in the month it had been announced that Danny Lear had moved from Erith & Belvedere to Petts Wood & Holmesdale. He has now announced his retirement from football. ‘The toughest decision i’ve ever had to make but after countless setbacks it’s time I leave the game I've loved after so many years. Time for a new chapter in my life now but football will be deeply missed. So many memories and people I've met will stick with me forever.’ He spent the last four seasons with Erith & Belvedere making over 100 appearances and scoring 50 goals. In 2025/26 he made 29 appearances, 22 starts, and scored ten goals

Ashton Mitford is another returnee for Bearsted. Last season, whilst also playing for Maidstone United Academy, he made 24 appearances for The Bears, ten starts, and scored six goals.

Theo Osinfolarin Whitstable Town to Raynes Park Vale. Joined Whitstable Town very early last season and made 38 appearances, 29 starts, and scored three goals. He also made six appearances for VCD Athletic as a dual registration and scored one goal.

Oghosa Williams AFC Greenwich Borough to Whitehawk. He scored around 40 goals for AFC Greenwich Borough on their way to becoming SCEFL1 champions. The previous season he scored two goals in around 35 appearances for Holmesdale.

Personal News

And that’s a wrap from me. 

As I have previously suggested on X/Twitter I don’t feel I can continue to be impartial about every club in SCEFLP this season and I think it’s best that I stop now before the new season kicks in fully.

The X/Twitter account will remain active but is unlikely to be monitored regularly.

Around the Clubs

Beckenham Town have announced that Michael McDonald, Steve Alexander and Munashe Mwatsiya will be Adam Griffin’s coaching staff.

Petts Wood & Holmesdale have announced that Elliott McManus and Nathan Palmer will become the Joint Managers of their U23 side, with Paul Haylock joining the coaching team as assistant.

Player Availability

Kundai Munyama is looking for Step 4-5 football. Last season he made 21 appearances for Kennington, 13 starts, and scored three goals, including both goals in their 2-2 draw at Snodland Town.

Louis Anderson returns to Rusthall for his eighth consecutive season. Last season he made 38 appearances, 34 starts,and scored one goal.

Mitch Chapman Chislehurst Glebe to Cray Wanderers. Joined Glebe in December after being out with a long term injury. He made 18 appearances including 16 starts. Returns to the club he was at when sustaining the injury.

Ernie Cheeseman VCD Athletic to Welling Town. Started 2025/26 with Corinthian and made 30 appearances, 29 starts, and scored in Corinthian’s 2-1 win at Sutton Athletic. Moved to VCD Athletic and made two further appearances.

Lorenzo Duncan Fisher to Dartford. Joined Fisher from Corinthian last summer and made 53 appearances, 40 starts, and scored 23 goals, including hat-tricks against Erith & Belvedere and Holmesdale.

Jake Embery joined Bearsted last summer having played for Lordswood and Hollands & Blair in 2024/25. He ended up as The Bears leading scorer with 24 goals from 44 appearances, with 42 starts. His goal tally included hat-tricks against Faversham Strike Force and Holmesdale. He has re-signed with Bearsted for the coming season.

Yassin Fares will be returning for his fourth season with Rusthall. Although he started 2025/26 at VCD Athletic, where he scored twice in seven appearances, he returned to Rusthall in October and made a further 24 appearances, 15 starts, and scored six goals, including a brace in their 3-1 win at Kennington in the Kent Senior Trophy.

Sam Flisher will be starting his third consecutive season at Bearsted, his sixth season in total. Last season he made 32 appearances and scored two goals.

Richard Jimoh is another returnee for Bearsted. He joined them last summer having played for Forest Hill Park and VCD Athletic during 2024/25. He made 38 appearances, 28 starts, and scored eight goals, including braces against Hythe Town in the Challenge Cup and both goals in the 2-1 league win against Rusthall.

Danny Keyte is back for a third season with Bearsted. Last season he made 27 appearances, 24 starts, and scored two goals.

Conrad Lee has committed to Bearsted for the fourth consecutive season. In 2025/26 he made ten appearances for the club, nine starts, and scored their goal in the 1=1 draw with Sutton Athletic on the final day of the season.

Adam Molloy VCD Athletic to Bearsted. Last season his appearances were interrupted by injuries but he made around 15 starts in IL1SE for Sheppey United and VCD Athletic.

Jack Palmby will be returning to Bearsted for a fourth season. Although he joined Deal Town last summer, he returned to the club in October, having made twelve appearances for the IL1SE club. He went on to make a further 32 appearances for The Bears, 25 starts, and scored three goals.

Rajan Sahni Kennington to Rusthall. Started last season with Erith & Belvedere and made five appearances with three starts. Moved to Kennington, for whom he had played for previously, in October and made a further 26 appearances, 15 starts, and scored six goals, including a brace in their 5-1 win over Rochester United in the FA Vase and Kennington’s only goal in a 1-3 defeat to Rusthall in the Kent Senior Trophy.

Sam Stace returns to Bearsted for the third consecutive season and his fifth in total with the club. He was The Bears’ Player of the Year in 2025/26 and made 43 appearances, 41 starts, and scored  ten goals, including a brace in their 3-2 win at Sutton Athletic.

Clark Woodcock Larkfield & New Hythe to Bearsted. He has spent the last four seasons with Larkfield & New Hythe and clocked up over 100 appearances. Last season he made 29 appearances, 20 starts, and scored one goal.

Other Leagues and Player News

Pete Berridge was a Coach at Fisher early last season and later played a significant part in Meridian VP’s survival in the Kent County League Premier Division as Manager with Junior Baker as his Assistant. The pair have now been appointed as Manager and Assistant at Equinoccial FC who this season will play in the Kent County League Premier Division, having been promoted after finishing as runners up in Division One West last season.

Henry Newcombe, who played six games in goal for Hythe Town and also stood in as Manager for one of their games in their troubled season of 2025/26, has taken up the position as Goalkeeper Coach at Whitstable Town and ‘help where needed’.

Louie Clarke is set to start his third consecutive season, fifth in total, with Rusthall. Last season he made 47 appearances, 35 starts, and scored 28 goals, including two hat-tricks.

Isaac Currie Whitstable Town to Hendon. Details of clubs played for in 2025/26 included in a previous post.

Enyinnaya Ezenwanne who spent time at Phoenix Sports last season as a dual registration from Dover Athletic whilst in their Academy, making ten appearances, seven starts, has signed his first professional contract with his parent club ahead of this season.

Sam Freeman Horsham YM to Corinthian Casuals. Details of clubs played for in 2025/26 included in a previous post.

Harry Gamble returns to Beckenham Town and will captain the side for this season. In 2025/26 he made 19 appearances and scored three goals.

Charlie Heatley Walthamstow to Takeley. Details of clubs played for in 2025/26 included in a previous post.

Jeff Njuguna returns to Rusthall for a fifth consecutive season having clocked up over 100 appearances in that time. Although he didn’t play until February last season, he made 15 appearances with twelve starts.

Jack Sammoutis Larkfield & New Hythe to Erith & Belvedere. Joined Larkfield & New Hythe midway through 2024/25 and last season made 33 appearances, 26 starts, and scored five goals, including a brace in the 5-0 win against Holmesdale.

Will Samways Chatham Town to Phoenix Sports (loan). The Academy player made his First Team debut for ChathamTown when coming on as a substitute for the final ten minutes of their last league game of 2025/26. He made ten appearances and scored twice for Otford United (KCL1C&E) in 2024/25.

Marcus Travers Sutton Common Rovers to Erith & Belvedere. Started last season with Corinthian but after 13 appearances moved to Sutton Common Rovers and made another 18 appearances.

Freddie Warwick Stansfeld to Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Last season he made 27 appearances, 14 starts for Erith & Belvedere before moving to Stansfeld in February and made a further five appearances. He scored one goal for Erith & Belvedere.

Other Leagues and Player News

It had previously been reported that Dan Eason and Taylor Couldry had left their coaching roles at Whitstable Town. Both have now joined former boss Jamie Coyle at Margate.

Yet another change at a Step 5 league as Oldland Abbotonians have been granted voluntary relegation to WL1 and will be replaced in WLP by Wells City who were the losers in WL1 play-off final.

In their statement, the club included:

‘This decision has been taken with a ‘heavy-heart’ but over the past couple of seasons

Oldland Abbotonians FC have battled with significant and costly issues in regards with our tenure at Castle Road and coupled with disproportionate travel commitments at Step 5, and unsuccessful appeal for a lateral move to the Hellenic League, we were left with no other option to preserve the legacy of our football club.’

Last season they finished 18th in WLP with 17 points from 34 matches and avoided relegation as there were two teams below them, AFC St Austell and Nailsea & Tickenham, both of whom failed to complete the season.

Matt Day has announced his departure from Larkfield & New Hythe. He made around 70 appearances for the club over the last two seasons. In 2025/26 he made 37 appearances, 25 starts, and scored 16 goals, including three braces.

Jesse Hammond will be starting his fourth season at Rusthall. In 2025/26 he made 23 appearances with 15 starts.

Reece Hobbs will be returning to Rusthall for a second season. He joined the club in December after Serine Sanneh sustained an injury in the Baller League. Earlier in the season he made eight appearances for Margate. He made twelve starts for Rusthall and kept three clean sheets. 

Christian Lawal Tunbridge Wells to Rusthall. Returns to the club for whom he made five appearances in 2018/19. Last season he made 40 appearances for Tunbridge Wells, 38 starts, and scored four goals.

Luke Leppard who made one appearance for Snodland Town as a substitute in September will be returning to East Grinstead Town for 2026/27. He made around 25 appearances for the Sussex club from October as well as two appearances for Rusthall in February and March whilst serving a suspension after being sent off for East Grinstead Town.

Josh Reid who joined Rusthall last summer from Herne Bay is returning for a second season with the club. In 2025/26 he made 44 appearances, 37 starts, and scored ten goals. He scored four braces, including in their 4-0 win over Bearsted in the final of the Challenge Cup Trophy.

Rob Strachan Erith & Belvedere to Cray Wanderers. Over the last three seasons he has made just over 160 appearances for The Deres and scored nine goals, of which 43 appearances and four goals came in 2025/26.

A number of changes to the Laws of the Game will be implemented at the start of the 2026/27 Macron NCEL season following the 140th Annual General Meeting of The International Football Association Board (IFAB) earlier this year.

Those that will affect our competition are as follows, listed here for the benefit of clubs, players and spectators:

Measures to deal with tempo disruption and time lost

Following last year’s successful introduction of the eight-second restriction on goalkeepers controlling the ball with their hands/arms (including the visual five-second countdown), the AGM members approved an additional set of measures aimed at further reducing both the number and duration of stoppages. These measures are also intended to help preserve the flow and tempo of the game.

Their main principles are as follows:

• Throw-ins and goal kicks

When a throw-in/goal kick is being deliberately delayed by the team taking the restart, the referee will whistle, signal and start a visual five-second countdown.

If the ball is not in play at the end of the countdown:

For throw-ins: the referee will award the throw-in to the opposing team, to be taken from the same position as the original throw-in,

For goal kicks: the referee will award a corner kick to the opposing team, to be taken on the side of the field closest to where the goal kick was to be taken.

• Substitutions

Once a substitution has been signalled by the referee or the substitution board has been shown, the player being substituted must leave the field of play within ten seconds.

If they do not leave the field in time, they must still leave as quickly as possible but the substitute may not enter until the first stoppage after one minute (running clock) following the restart.

• Injuries

An injured outfield player who causes play to be stopped due to an actual or suspected injury or who receives assessment/treatment on the field of play must then leave and remain off the field for one minute (running clock) following the restart to allow the medical staff the necessary time to evaluate whether the player should continue playing, as well as to reduce disruption to the tempo of the match.

This provision does not apply to the situations outlined in Law 5 that do not require an injured player to leave the field of play.

Law 4 – The Players’ Equipment

Accessories (previously referred to as ‘jewellery’) will be permitted if they are not dangerous and if safely and securely covered.

Law 5 – The Referee

The advantage may be applied when a restart is incorrectly taken and the ball is in play.

Competitions will have the option of providing referees with body cameras.

Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct

No caution (yellow card) for a Denying an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity (DOGSO) offence if the advantage is played and a goal is scored.

The leagues covered by Step 5 are set to run two places short for 2026/27 as on Friday the FA revealed the results of appeals relating to the new allocations. 

Two sides requested and were granted ‘voluntary’ relegation. Bugbrooke St.Michaels finished 19th in UCPS and although initially reprieved, will play in SSM1 for 2026/27. Similarly, Wincanton Town finished 19th in WXP, were reprieved and will now take part in WL1.

In an update to the situation in NWCP following Pilkington’s decision to resign from that League (see previous post). Litherland REMYCA, who finished 23rd in NWCP have been reprieved so the division will run with 20 teams. As a knock-on in NWCL1, Maine Road have also been reprieved in that division. It means that Stansfeld were the only side finishing next to bottom in a Step 5 league not to be reprieved.

Bradford Town, who finished 10th in WLP, have had their appeal upheld and will play in HLP next season.

At the recent Kent County League AGM, it was announced that Crockenhill would be leaving the League to play in the Sevenoaks and District League Premier Division. Crockenhill spent two seasons in SCEFL1 between 2016 and 2018, finishing 18th of 19 and 19th of 19.

Bermondsey Town, who finished bottom of SCEFL1 in 2022/23 their only season in SCEFL1, have announced that they have folded. 

The full constitution of the Kent County League Premier Division, which promotes to SCEFL1 subject to criteria, is: 

AC Ashford, AMG Ballerz, Aylesford, Cuxton 1991, Equinoccial FC, Falconwood, FC Revo, Hawkinge Town, Kent United, Kings Hill, Long Lane, Meridian VP, Metrogas, New Romney, Snodland Town Reserves, Sporting Club Thamesmead Erith, Stansfeld (Oxford & Bermondsey) and Tenterden Town.

The Spartan South Midlands League have announced that their Division 2 (Step 7) will run with 19 teams this season, as a one off:

‘We would like to sincerely thank the Beds & Herts County FA’s who sanctioned the League to allow us, for one season only, to admit a 19th club. Rules only allow Step 7 leagues to have a maximum of 18 clubs. The FA are currently considering changes to the NLS pyramid in 2027/28, so this is deemed appropriate.’

There have been rumours that the FA is considering increasing the amount of leagues and clubs at Step 6 level. This is the first time that I have seen anything in writing from a League or the FA to suggest that this is the case.

Management Changes

Beckenham Town have appointed Adam Griffin as their new First Team Manager. He joins the club with 15 years experience working within professional football and non league football including Crystal Palace, Southampton, Charlton and Bristol City.

Thompson Adeyemi is to return to Rusthall for his third season with the club. In 2025/26 he made 41 appearances. 24 starts, and scored five goals, including a brace in their 4-3 win at SC Thamesmead in the Challenge Cup.

Gil Carvalho Hollands & Blair to Merstham. Details of clubs played for in 2025/26 included in a previous post.

Joe Chalker Beckenham Town to Phoenix Sports. Spent the last three seasons at Beckenham Town and last season he made around 30 appearances and scored two goals. He has previous SCEFLP experience with both Erith Town and Erith & Belvedere.

Sinn’Kaye Christie Whitstable Town to Merstham. Started last season with VCD Athletic and made around 30 appearances, scoring two goals. He joined Whitstable Town in March and made three appearances for them with one start. 

Isaac Currie joined Whitstable Town in December on dual registration from Welling United having earlier in the season made five appearances for Hythe Town. He made three appearances for Welling and 16 for Whitstable, including 13 starts. He is now looking for a club ideally close to North/East London.

Michael Fenn VCD Athletic to Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Spent the last three seasons at VCD Athletic and in 2025/26 he made over 30 appearances and scored two goals. Also made three appearances last season for Rusthall as a dual registration.

Frankie Griffin is returning to Rusthall for a third season, having made around 80 appearances for the club. In 2025/26 he made 44 appearances with 42 starts. 

Tom Hanfrey Hythe Town to Whitstable Town. Made over 30 appearances for Sevenoaks Town, scoring three goals, before joining Hythe Town in March. Made two appearances for Hythe and received a red card in the second of these, a 2-5 defeat at Kennington.

Jack Kirby will start his fourth season at Rusthall. Last season he made 50 appearances, 48 starts, and scored 21 goals, including five braces.

Theo Lukyamuzi will be staying at Phoenix Sports for the 2026/27 campaign. He joined the club in March having made one appearance in August for Hollands & Blair as a substitute in their FA Cup win over Herne Bay. He also played for Bakers 963 (Essex Alliance League), making eight appearances and scoring three goals. He made nine appearances for Phoenix, two starts, and scored two goals. 

Armani-Jordan Martin Fisher to Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Started 2025/26 with Hythe Town and made 28 appearances, 27 starts, and scored six goals. Joined Fisher in February for whom he had played the previous season and made a further 13 appearances, ten starts, with five more goals.

Fyn Rutherford will remain with Petts Wood & Holmesdale for this season. He joined Holmesdale in December from VCD Athletic for whom he made 18 appearances and then clocked up another 14 appearances and scored one goal for Holmesdale.

Rob Strachan, captain of Erith & Belvedere, appears to be leaving the club from a statement issued on 10 June. Over the last three seasons he has made just over 160 appearances and scored nine goals, of which 43 appearances and four goals came in 2025/26.

Other Leagues' News

The National League have scheduled their fixture release day as Friday 10 July. The lower Step Leagues will hopefully follow fairly soon after that date but it doesn’t leave a lot of time with SCEFLP, and most other Step 5 Leagues, scheduled to start on Saturday 1 August. However, it should be noted that the Essex Senior League have published their opening two rounds of fixtures.

Management Changes

Ross Baker has joined the management team at Erith & Belvedere. For the last three years he has been Joint Manager at VCD Athletic, including during the 2024/25 season when they finished as runners up in SCEFLP but still earned promotion to IL1SE through the play-offs.

Phoenix Sports have announced Joe Docherty as the club's new First Team Goalkeeper Coach. Most recently he has been at Cray Valley PM.

Player Availability

Charlie Heatley has wished good luck to Walthamstow (IL1N) after scoring eleven goals in 17 appearances. Earlier in the season he scored seven goals in 17 appearances for VCD Athletic and also made four appearances, one goal, for Snodland Town.

Lee Bird Punjab United to Phoenix Sports. Returns to the club where he made over 50 appearances between 2022 and 2023. Started last season with VCD Athletic after playing a part in their promotion winning season in 2024/25 and made around 30 appearances. Joined Punjab United in February and made a further 20 appearances, 16 starts, and scored two goals.

Robbie Bissett, captain of Rusthall, will be returning for the third consecutive season and fourth in total. He has made around 100 appearances in that time and 40 of those came in 2025/26 when he also scored six goals.

Charlie Clover Rusthall to Petts Wood and Holmesdale. Leaves Rusthall after 176 appearances over four seasons. He won the 2024/25 SCEFLP Golden Boot with 28 goals and last season added another 23 goals to his tally from 48 appearances, 45 starts.

Louie Downey has confirmed his intention to stay with Phoenix Sports for 2026/27,  He joined the club in November having made eight appearances for Chertsey Town earlier in the season. He went on to make 18 appearances for Phoenix, 16 starts, and scored three goals.

Casey Dudley will be returning to Erith & Belvedere but this time as a permanent signing. He joined The Deres in January as a dual registration with Beckenham Town and made eleven appearances, eight starts, and scored his only goal in a 1-4 defeat to Punjab United. He also made 25 appearances for Beckenham Town, scoring once.

Kai Garrett made two appearances for Hythe Town whilst on loan from Ramsgate, scoring on his debut in their 2-3 defeat by Rusthall. He later moved to Ashford United and made 13 appearances, mainly from the bench, and scored one goal. He will be returning to The Nuts and Bolts for 2026/27.

Jireh George who made 13 appearances, four starts, and scored one goal for Kennington whilst on dual registration with Ashford United has agreed to return to his parent club for 2026/27. He also made one appearance for Ashford United last season in the Velocity Cup.

Ollie Gray Hollands & Blair to Sheppey United. Started 2025/26 with Hythe Town making five appearances, two starts before moving to Hollands & Blair in September. He made 15 appearances for his new club, ten starts, scoring his only goal in the 2-2 draw with Snodland Town.

Lewis Heywood-Oriogun returns to Petts Wood & Holmesdale for his third season, having made over 80 appearances and scored around 25 goals for the club in that time. Last season he made 41 appearances, 39 starts, and scored 13 goals, including a hat-tick in their 6-0 against Stansfeld.

Danny Lear Erith & Belvedere to Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Spent the last four seasons with Erith & Belvedere making over 100 appearances and scoring 50 goals. In 2025/26 he made 29 appearances, 22 starts, and scored ten goals.

Mecca Maxime‑Samuels returns for a third season having made around 40 appearances for Holmesdale in the last two. He made 16 appearances in 2025/26. 13 starts, and scored two goals. He also made 22 appearances for Erith Town, scoring three goals, together with a couple of appearances for SC Thamesmead

FA Cup and FA Vase Dates

With the starting dates for most Step 5 Leagues being 1 August, as expected, the FA Cup will start a week later. Below are the dates of the early rounds of both competitions. The draws for the opening rounds of both competitions are expected to be released on Friday 3 July.

Mark Boruk, who scored twice early in 2025/26 for Bearsted, coming off the bench on both occasions. has agreed first team terms with Maidstone United. The 18 year old was also a  regular in Maidstone’s U23 side and went on to play a handful of games for Herne Bay. Towards the end of the season he made the breakthrough into Maidstone’s first team.
